According to Jenkins, push and pull mediums refer to how an audience receives the content transmitted by a medium. Push mediums send out content to the public regardless of whether the public actually wants it or not. Oppositely, pull mediums rely on consumers actively seeking out the content- the consumers have an active interest in the material available to them. Jenkins cites television as an example of push medium and the internet as a pull medium.
